Englund’s casting in Netflix’s blockbuster sci-fi horror series fits in perfectly The themes of the fourth season of the 80s showwhat caused A Nightmare on Elm Streetis the tactic of having a monster attack its victims in a surreal dream world – or in this case “The Upside Down”. In Hollywood dreams and nightmaresEnglund recalls auditioning for Hawkins’ sleazy mayor, a role that eventually went to another ’80s icon, Cary Elwes. But although Englund’s Victor Creel appears in only one episode of Season 4, the character’s looming presence – his eerie history, his decaying former home, his connection to stranger things Big villain Vecna - makes the role feel less like a cameo than his screen time would suggest.
