new purchase planner gives me an endorphin boost like no other, whether it’s for a new school semester, a year of work, or a much-needed fresh start. A good one should help you stay on track without overwhelming you. Some people on WIRED’s Gear team prefer paper planners to digital tools. Also, writing things down has the added benefit of improving retention.
Everyone has their own preferences, types of tasks, and level of willingness to doodle and organize, so we don’t have the one best overall planner. I grilled WIRED employees for their favorites and tested a lot myself. Once you’ve found something that works for you, check out our Work From Home Gear, Best Smart Pens and Tablets, and Best Laptop Backpacks guides to learn more.
Updated January 2023: We’ve added Bright Day Kids and Paper, and continuously updated prices.
Special offer for Gear readers: Get a 1 year subscription for WIRED for $5 ($25 off). This includes unrestricted access to WIRED.com and our print magazine (if you wish). Subscriptions help fund our daily work.
