14-year-old shot dead while standing on porch of home in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia police are investigating after a teenager was shot dead on his porch Monday night.

It happened just before 10:30 p.m. at the 2100 block of West York Street in North Philadelphia.

Police say the 14-year-old boy was on his porch taking out the trash when the gunman opened fire and punched him once in the butt.

His family rushed him to a local hospital, where he was put in stable condition.

Police say the boy’s relatives believe the shooting was related to an argument at school.

According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, eight people were inside the home at the time of the shooting, including a 1-, 6- and 10-year-old boy.

No other injuries were reported.

The police are still looking for the shooter.
