$17.5K fake check for car nets investigation

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Murfreesboro Police Department needs the public’s help to identify a person of interest in a fraud investigation.

According to MPD spokesman Larry Flowers, a car buyer reportedly bought a car on March 13.

The seller took the check to the bank, who based on the routing number determined it was a fraud.

Because the sale was person-to-person, no IDs were exchanged between the two parties and the seller was no longer able to contact the buyer.

The car was classified as stolen by the National Crime Information Center.

Anyone with information on the man’s identity or where he or the car can be located should contact Detective Ray Daniel at 629-201-5512.
