WEST PENN TWP., Pennsylvania (WPVI) — Two firefighters were killed fighting a house fire in West Penn Township, Pennsylvania. Police say a third body was found outside the home.

The fire broke out Wednesday afternoon at a home on the 1100 block of Clamtown Road near Tamaqua in Schuylkill County, according to WFMZ.

The Pennsylvania State Police confirmed the deaths of the two firefighters during a news conference late Wednesday night.

The body discovered at the property was found about 100 yards behind the home, which sits on a 20-acre lot, according to WNEP. Police are not saying at this time if this body was directly involved in the fire.

According to WNEP, the firefighters were trapped inside and had to be pulled out. Both firefighters were pronounced dead at the hospital.

The identities of the victims were not immediately released.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
