This TV is currently our top pick for most people. It supports all common HDR (high dynamic range) formats and can process up to 120 frames per second when gaming. The downside (and it might not really be a downside) is that TCL has replaced its excellent built-in Roku interface with Google TV, which looks good and has all the apps you could want, but is a bit sluggish.
TVs with OLED panels have pixels that act as their own backlight. These pixels can turn themselves off, providing perfect black levels – darker than a typical LED screen. Parker Hall, Associate Review Editor at WIRED, says the C2’s 4K OLED display is “absolutely gorgeous,” noting that it has the lowest input lag of any TV he’s seen. If you’re a gamer, that’s good news for you – it’s capable of gaming at up to 120Hz in 4K.
The Chromecast with Google TV (8/10, WIRED recommends) has a well-designed interface that lets you watch channels directly on your TV without wires have to transfer it from another device. There is also a remote control. It has almost every app you could want, and yes, you can still cast content from your phone or laptop if you need to.
Roku is our favorite streaming service. The interface is fast and clear, easy to use and there are no awkward attempts to impose specific channels on the viewer (Cough, looking at you, Amazon). This is the slightly cheaper version of our pick in our guide to the best 4K streaming devices. The remote doesn’t have hands-free voice control, but it’s razor-sharp and has good range on the wireless remote.

For a soundbar without an included subwoofer, the M-Series 2.1 has surprisingly powerful bass. This is our top pick for a budget soundbar, as it combines rich sound and sleek design at an affordable price. There is an HDMI ARC port that allows you to control the volume with your TV remote. You can even stream music to it using the Bluetooth connection.
As small as a hockey puck, you can take the Clip 4 almost anywhere. Just use the carabiner to attach it to your day hiker’s backpack, bike handlebars or folding chair on your way to the beach. It’s also waterproof, so you won’t have to sweat from pool water, rain or, well, sweat.
Save space by bundling your streaming device right inside your soundbar with the Roku Streambar. Not only does it include our favorite streaming service that lets you stream pretty much any channel, but the audio quality is pretty good for the price.

Featuring WiSA technology, this attractive, compact 5-channel Platin Audio (8/10, WIRED recommends) system can stream and sync audio from a puck placed near your TV. The five small speakers and the compact subwoofer consist of beautifully woven cones and elegant, modern cabinets. Plus, setup is incredibly easy, requiring only one power source for each speaker and one HDMI cable to connect to the streaming puck.
Sennheiser’s first home soundbar, the Max, is also the best-sounding soundbar we’ve heard. The more affordable Plus on offer here has less bass and no built-in voice assistant, but has the same 3D audio processing that allows it to fill a room with rich, detailed sound in Dolby Atmos immersion.
This Sony speaker’s three upward-firing drivers radiate sound throughout the room, rather than directing the sound straight at your ears like most Bluetooth speakers do. It also has Google Assistant and Alexa, as well as Wi-Fi support, so you can shout your commands to it too.

A big part of the reason the Nest Doorbell took second place in our Best Video Doorbells guide was price. As long as this deal goes, it won’t be a problem. This version runs on batteries and is not directly connected to your home’s mains electricity supply. You’ll need to download the Google Home app, but if you want to keep 30 days of video history and smart alerts, you’ll need to subscribe Nest Aware, which costs $6 per month. Expect around a month of use between charges. The field of view isn’t the greatest, but it’s big enough, and the night vision offers solid video quality.
Reduce your cooling and heating bills with a thermostat that learns your patterns so it can turn down the air conditioner when you’re not home. You can also control it manually from the Google Home app. As with any smart thermostat, your home must have central heating and/or cooling for the Nest Thermostat to integrate.
The 7-inch screen (7/10, WIRED recommends) Nest Hub is a solid option if you don’t need (or don’t want) the Nest Hub Max’s built-in camera. You still get the same features as Google Assistant, plus sleep tracking that handles your sleep data (if you sleep close enough to it). It also supports gestures, so you can control many functions (e.g. music playback) with simple hand gestures. The 10-inch Nest Hub Max is, too on sale for $190 ($40 off).
While the Nest Audio (8/10, WIRED recommends) might be a little dated when it comes to smart devices, it still offers the excellent Google Assistant with an eye-catching speaker that’s much better at filling a room with rich sound, full of bass than a typical Nest Hub or Nest Mini. Like all Google smart home devices, it easily integrates with a wide variety of smart devices from Google and other manufacturers that you can control through the Google Home app. When you connect two, you get a stereo setup.
The Nest Cam’s video quality is impressive, with HDR and 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second; As soon as it gets dark, the night vision turns on. There’s also two-way audio, two-factor authentication, and accurate detection to warn you of people, animals, and vehicles. The Google Home app lets you control the camera’s settings and view the video feed. Unless you pay $6 a month for a Nest Aware subscription, your history is limited to three hours. When you upgrade to Nest Aware, you get 30 days of event-based video history and familiar face notifications. However, there is no visual protection.
Deals for home and kitchen

The Dutch Oven is one of the most versatile cooking appliances in the kitchen. You can use them to bake bread, simmer stews on the stove, roast chicken and prepare casseroles. Traditional European brands will cost an arm and a leg, but this American-made lodge cooks as good as any. The non-stick, enamelled surface makes cleaning a breeze, and since you don’t have to re-oil it immediately after cleaning like you would with bare cast-iron cookware, it’s also less maintenance.
Lodge pans are one of our Buy It For Life picks for a reason. They form a non-stick cooking surface over time without the need for Teflon, and cast iron retains heat exceptionally well. Roast in the oven, sear and even bake a pan of cornbread.
Space in the kitchen is often scarce. Once you’ve added the obligatory coffee maker, toaster, and microwave to your worktops, small spaces often leave little space for prep. Create space to place utensils or mixing bowls with this bamboo workstation placed above your stovetop. Half a typical stove is covered. Get two to get a consistent flat surface across all four burners.
The Roborock Q5+ (9/10, WIRED recommends) is our favorite robot vacuum for several reasons. It’s easy to use, the app is easy to navigate, and the vacuum itself is incredibly reliable. It can also map multiple room types and assign different floor types to these rooms. The biggest downside is the price, which means you should get one now.
This is our favorite budget standing desk and it has worked reliably for a number of years. It’s a bit complicated to assemble, but the desk feels sturdy and elegant despite being made of eco-friendly chipboard. You can save three height presets.
