French Open: Russian teenager dreams of ‘winning 25 Grand Slam titles’

16-year-old Mirra Andreeva said she dreams of winning 25 Grand Slam titles after reaching the third round of the French Open.

The outstanding Russian talent has survived qualifying, losing just six games in her first two main round matches as she defeated France’s Diane Parry 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday. Andreeva only turned 16 at the end of April and has set big goals for her tennis career.

“The dream: I know that (Novak) Djokovic has done 22 Grand Slams, so I want to go to 25 if it’s possible,” said the confident teenager.

However, Andreeva will try to keep his feet on the ground, adding: “As my coach says, you shouldn’t be like a diva but stay humble all the time.” I don’t think I’m going to have much success now. I didn’t win any tournaments. i just play It’s the third round of Roland Garros. I will play.”

French Open: Jannik Sinner is epic shocked by unseeded Daniel Altmaier

Jannik Sinner wasted two match points when he went down against Germany’s Daniel Altmaier 6-7(0) 7-6(7) 1-6 7-6(4) 7-5 in a second-round thriller on Thursday eliminated the French Open.

The red-haired Italian, who is often cheered on by six fans dressed as carrots – the Carota boys – and was seen in Vienna snacking on carrots on the pitch, wasn’t his dominant self when he retired after five hours and 26 minutes.

The no.

Latest French Open: Novak Djokovic fueled by ‘drama’

Novak Djokovic admitted the drama is driving him on as the fallout from his controversial message on Kosovo lingers.

The French sports minister commented on Wednesday’s debate over Djokovic’s decision to write “Kosovo is the heart of Serbia” on camera after his first-round win at Roland Garros.

Speaking to France 2 TV channel, Amelie Oudea-Castera said the message was not appropriate given the violence in the north of the country, which Serbia does not recognize as independent, and warned Djokovic not to repeat the action.

He told Serbian media he would do it again, but after beating Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics 7-6(2), 6-0, 6-3 in the second round, he just decided to sign and a smiley face.

At his post-match press conference, Djokovic said: “I would say it again, but there’s no need because you have my quotes if you want to think about it.”

“Of course I’m aware that a lot of people have different opinions, but that’s the way it is. That’s what I stand for. So that’s all. A Grand Slam without drama, I don’t think that can happen to me. I think that drives me too.”
