3 job interviews ChatGPT has passed so far. See how much they pay.
ChatGPT, OpenAI’s advanced chatbot, developed from its GPT3 language model, can do almost anything. From helping you find love, writing cover letters and resumes to writing poetry using the voices of dead authors, ChatGPT has you covered. The fresh new hell we are in now is ChatGPT has the ability to do job interviews.
Artificial intelligence may not be close to replacing most jobs, but it’s fascinating how easy it is for this simple chatbot to attract recruiters to some very high-paying positions. This current AI job search trend shouldn’t worry you just yet, but we’ve looked at some of the jobs ChatGPT is shortlisted for:
Programmer at Google (average salary: $187,000)
According to PayScale, the average salary for a software developer in the United States is around $90,000 per year. That’s a lot of money, making the interview process a bit of a challenge for those looking to make money. For ChatGPT, however, it’s apparently a no-brainer.
In one of PCMag(Opens in a new window), the chatbot was able to “amazingly” pass the level 3 interview on technical programming by Google. While an L3 engineer at Google is an entry-level position, it comes with a salary of $187,000. However, it should be noted that Google’s coding interview was based on technical questions that are easy to answer for a language learning model. But behavioral questions like “tell me when when” are an obstacle for AI.
ChatGPT could be a useful AI tool. So how do we regulate it?
Coder at Amazon (average salary: $135,000)
Google wasn’t the only big tech company where ChatGPT landed a programming position. According to Business Insider(Opens in a new window), an engineer at Amazon, asked and correctly answered the chatbot interview questions the company uses for its programming jobs. In internal Slack docs acquired by Insider, the employee wrote, “I’m both shocked and excited to see the impact this will have on the way we conduct programmer interviews.” start at $135,000(Opens in a new window).
However, on a broader level of the technology spectrum, many across the web, particularly on Reddit, have commented on how ChatGPT has helped them interview and the interview process.
Communications Consultant at Schwa (average salary: $56,000)
According to a Sky News article, ChatGPT has its fingers in the consulting game, it seems. This was announced by the branch(Opens in a new window) that Schwa, a communications consultancy in London, had used AI to help with its hiring process. The chatbot was so good that they mistakenly shortlisted the AI for the job.
“It was more competent than a lot of the bad people that apply to us,” Neil Taylor, Schwa’s owner and founder, told Sky News.
Despite being shortlisted for the job, Taylor told Sky News that ChatGPT’s initial responses were “skillful but a bit boring”. With more specific prompts, the AI sounded “more opinionated” and “punchy”.
Consulting is a well-paid job and the average salary in the UK is around £47,000 (just over US$56,000), according to Glassdoor.(Opens in a new window).
As for the actual job, a communications consultant is “a professional who provides expert advice and assistance to organizations and individuals in effectively communicating their messages to audiences,” according to the best expert Mashable could find on short notice: ChatGPT.
