5 shot near West Philadelphia rec center; 2 arrested

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting that left five people injured outside a recreation center on Tuesday night.

It happened around 6:53 p.m. on the 300 block of North 57 Street

According to police, two men in a white SUV opened fire on the block.

The five victims are between 16 and 22 years old.

Police say a 16-year-old man and a 21-year-old man are both in extremely critical condition at a local hospital.

Both shooters were arrested. Several rifles and handguns were seized from the SUV.

It is still unclear what triggered the shooting.
