5 tag teams WWE refused to split

Over the years, WWE has repeatedly shown how little they value team wrestling.

Historically, Vince McMahon has been credited with talking about his problems with it, and when you look at the company’s history with teams, it’s clear to see the department’s lack of effort.

The company has a formula when it comes to their card teams, and that often entails matching two random singles stars before inevitably parting them. This is usually done with plans for future feuds and never in the best interest of the tag team department.

However, there have been rare instances in the past where Vince McMahon saw the value of a union and keeping a team together.

Note that, here are the five tag teams that WWE refused to part with.

#5. WWE teased splitting the Legion of Doom many times but never did

Considered by many to be the greatest tag team of all time, WWE knew they had the edge when they brought the Road Warriors into the company.

Renamed Legion of Doom, Hawk and Animal spent a total of four years promoting in two separate runs. Despite the fact that they may have split more than once during their time with Vince McMahon, the company has actually kept the two together throughout their tenure.

They went on to win the WWF Tag Team Championships twice and eventually earned the title of Hall of Fame.

#4. Neither WWE nor Steiner Brothers want to split the team

The Steiner Brothers were one of the hottest teams of the 1990s and became synonymous with WCW.

However, Rick and Scott Steiner spent a few years working for Vince McMahon, and the two remained a close-knit team throughout their time at the company.

The Steiners were very outspoken early in their careers about never wanting to break up, and WWE seems to have listened. They won the WWF Tag Team Championships twice and were a solid team for many years until they finally agreed to part ways during their time at WCW.

#3. WWE mishandled The Revival but kept them together

After the stellar record in NXT, it can be said that WWE really mishandled The Revival when they were promoted to the main roster.

Poor booking really hurts the team, so it’s quite surprising that the company never shortens the time couples spend together to see what they can do as a single competitor. .

The duo are others who have voiced their intentions to stick together for the rest of their careers. That may have played a role in keeping them linked, as they’ve spent their WWE tenure parallel and even continuing after leaving the company.

It’s hard to see the couple going their separate ways at this point.

#2. The new day doesn’t look like it’s going to be divided anytime soon

After grouping three individuals together at Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods in 2014, WWE hit a goldmine.

Now in their eighth year together, The New Day has become one of the most successful and popular teams in the company’s history. What’s encouraging is the fact that the promotion shows no sign of splitting the three, even as Kingston and Big E hit the world title.

Last year, the draft moved Big E to Raw and away from his allies, but it hasn’t ended the group’s run. Big E still regularly participated in The New Day and rejoined the team shortly after losing the title.

With the trio now appearing together on SmackDown, it looks like the group still has a lot of life left in it. After their years of success, Mr. McMahon may have absolutely no intention of separating them.

#1. Usos are destined to spend their entire careers together

Usos is currently the best they've ever had

Usos has been a close-knit team since their debut and there’s absolutely no sign that the two will part ways in the future.

Twins Jey and Jimmy are one of the most successful teams in history and have managed to continually evolve over the years to remain entertaining in the eyes of fans.

Now in their 12th year as a mainstay team, The Usos are better than ever. Having been SmackDown Tag Team Champions for more than 300 days, the brothers are enjoying life alongside their cousin Roman Reigns.

As long as The Bloodline is the biggest stable in the company, it’s highly unlikely that a team’s time is over.
