With the summer holiday season finally in full swing, weed fans – and weed lovers alike – are ready to toss it by the pool, tossing back a few insanely refreshing, totally replenishing drinks. THC and get higher gas prices at the corner of La Cienega and Beverly Avenues.
The only barrier is figuring out what to buy.
That’s because while we’re preoccupied with double-masking and the wrong sneezes, the cannabis-infused beverage category has outgrown Pete Davidson’s social media influence.
According to cannabis trend-tracking company Headset, the California market will grow the fastest in the country in 2021, when the number of cannabis drinks offered in the state nearly doubles to 530.
Sure, the drink label will tell you how much THC (the psychoactive ingredient that gets you high) in the drink and may (but not always) hint at the taste. But that’s not much to go on, and too often, choosing a weed drink is more like catching your taste buds on a weedy date than making an informed decision.
To help you find the perfect summertime poolside treat – or at least narrow it down significantly – a staff of about a dozen colleagues and friends has been dubbed the Elite Tasting Team ( EBTS) came to my backyard for 17- test drinks with the goal together (see what I did there?) recommend and rank by flavor 10 THC mixed drinks.
After nearly three hours, we stopped at five solid recommendations.
That’s because most of the choices at hand (some industry-recommended, some best-sellers, and others randomly selected) are like a sad, weedy fruit picker. reason or both. A Delta-8 THC infused drink called Party Water from Party Beer Co. commented on tasting, “I feel like a piece of celery just spit in my mouth”. Ceria Brewing Co.’s Indiewave, which is targeting the India Pale Ale flavor, has landed closer to “bitter saliva” with scents of “unrefrigerated Thanksgiving leftovers” and high THC content. 25 milligrams/12-ounce can). And Heavy Hitters’ HVY Marg evoked comparisons to “dirty socks” and “window cleaners”.
But the five highlights below? They represent all the stars of taste testing and are well worth a try if your summer to-do list includes delving deeper into the world of weed-enhanced drinks. It is by no means definitive but serves as a starting point.
