Judgment has been made within the fandom, and it seems many viewers prefer 90 Day Fiancé UK to 90 Day Fiancé OG, at least this season. There are reasons why it’s better, firstly the UK cast seems to be actually made up of real people and not just people who have responded to a casting call for an attempt at being on reality TV.
Sure we’re entertained by all the trainwrecks in the OG instance of the show, but there’s a certain charm to the British cast in letting you feel like they’re there to actually find love and not just build their own brand, That’s what apparently actually branched many of the 90 Day casts.
’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: UK – The big difference between 90 Day Fiancé and 90 Day Fiancé UK
If the show were to rebrand itself as Building Brands from Trainwrecks, that would probably be more true than the “90 Day Fiancé” label at this point. Yes, there are some couples who are still looking for love, but some of them just want to connect and build brands together, and real love has nothing to do with that.
The UK 90 Days cast seems to be structured differently though, and they’re here for the show’s original intent – thank goodness, because we’ve had enough of Building Brands from Trainwrecks for the whole year. (We realize the season isn’t over yet.) Honestly, it’s a breath of fresh air.
In fact, for British audiences, there doesn’t seem to be much focus on the more unfortunate parts of the story. You’d expect a bunch of British Karens as mothers-in-law, and a bunch of people bickering about beliefs and the like… but no, the British cast just seems to be made up of kinder, gentler people who seem to genuinely be in love and not just pretend until they make it. Which begs the question – is the current cast of 90 Day really the impression we’re giving to the rest of the world?
Because we should try to reassure the rest of the world that the majority of us don’t act that way, that we’re out here embracing every horrible American stereotype there is and not deviating at all from the fact that OG actually has 90 days really made an art form of leaning on stereotypes for a lot of its storylines and… it’s getting a little old.
So we don’t know if the casting directors simply decided to focus more on the UK version of the show or if they just picked the wrong people for the OG this time around…but…. Here’s hoping the S10 isn’t so…wrong. There. I said it. Stay tuned!!!
