A listing surfaced this week that is likely to make game console collectors salivate. Someone based in France sells more than 2,200 consoles, including as many models, colorways and special editions as they could get their hands on. The asking price for this piece of gaming history? €984,000, or just a hair under $1 million.
Via Google Translate, the seller, who goes by the name of Kaori30, says the collection covers 50 years of gaming history. It includes console variants that were only offered through competitions. Along with the consoles, the listing (via ) contains a few hundred games, some statues, and other collectibles.
Kaori30 says they started the collection in the early ’90s but sold everything they acquired a few years later. They started buying consoles again later in the decade, stopping in 2011 due to a lack of time and the difficulty of finding rarer pieces. After a visit to Japan in 2018, they rekindled their passion and were able to get back almost everything they sold plus a ton of other consoles.
The collector estimates that there are between 200 and 300 items that are not available anywhere else, making this a unique collection. The listing includes many, if not all, of the Nintendo items in the treasure trove (including at least 20 Nintendo 64 variants). Still, Kaori30, which has perfect positive feedback on eBay, promises the lot has “everything,” including Sega and Neo Geo consoles. A look at the photos provided by the seller shows that they also offer many other devices including PlayStation, Xbox and TurboGrafx hardware and even an Ouya. Some old videos also provide a closer look at many of the items.
Kaori30 only offers delivery in France. So if you’re a wealthy gaming enthusiast living elsewhere and want to snag that massive collection, you’ll have to take care of shipping as well.
