On Thursday afternoon, SAG-AFTRA announced they had voted for a strike beginning at midnight and picketing beginning Friday morning.
With this vote, Hollywood has basically come to a standstill as the actors will join the writers picketing the studios to get better deals. Filming will halt, as will promotional events — including interviews, junkets, premieres, and events like Comic-Con.
Hollywood actors are preparing to go on strike and celebs are showing their support.
SAG-AFTRA (the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) is on the verge of a strike after the AMPTP (American Motion Picture and Television Producers), which represents studios and production companies, failed to reach an agreement.
Ahead of the impending shutdown, many stars are voicing the importance of the strike.

Jamie Lee Curtis went to Instagram to share some BTS footage of the newbie haunted house film while also sharing her support.
“I see a hit in my crystal ball. 🔮,” she wrote, alluding to her character Madame Leota. “The souls of the ghosts of long-gone artists urge us in this modern moment to fight for our right to exist as creators.”
“As we’re all going to stop using social media to promote the work we’re striking for, this is my final offer from the wonderful new Disney movie @hauntedmansion and ironic because I put Madame Leota in her crystal ball and “Hundreds of years ago they used a digital technique that was a first for me, which was acting with my head in a vise, but the results are great,” she continued. “A great combination of acting AND technology. What I’m saying is that while I’m computer generated, it depends on my PERFORMANCE, my sense of comedic timing, and you CANNOT reproduce that with a machine. I stand STRONG with my union @sagaftra. “

Emily Blunt shared their support, noting that the cast will leave their premiere to support the strike.
“I think right now we’re just kind of… I hope everyone makes a fair deal and we’re here to celebrate this movie. And if they call it, we’ll leave together as a cast in unity with everyone… We’ll have that.” “We’ll have to do it. We’ll see what happens. It’s a pleasure to be together right now,” she said said on the red carpet.

Matt Damon also spoke about the possible strike and shared the importance of “protecting the people on the fringes”.
“$26,000 a year is what you have to make to get health insurance, and there are a lot of people who just cross that threshold by paying the balance,” he explained. “When those residual payments dry up, so does their health care, and that’s absolutely unacceptable.”
“We can’t have that, so we’ll have to come up with something that’s fair,” Damon continued. “Anyway, we’ll see where it goes. Nobody wants a break from work… It’s painful for every other guild. Really painful for IATSE and all our brothers and sisters there, nobody wants that but we do.” [have] to work with fair contracts.”

“For the past 24 hours, people who make tens of millions from the characters we create have been telling happy stories to the press about how we won’t negotiate until our homes are lost and we’ve hit rock bottom,” Embry wrote. “Consider that before paying for your next subscription or watching a summer blockbuster.”
Sawa also noted that the strikes aren’t just a fun photo op for workers.
“We are on strike. Just a note, this isn’t a party. Many of us don’t want to go on strike, we do it for a reason. If you go to the picket line. “Waiting in line just to meet and say hello and get some cool pics for the gram you ain’t us,” the actor wrote.
