A touch of France in a Federal Way dog park

The Bark de Triomphe brings European culture to the canine experience. #k5evening

FEDERAL WAY, Washington — There is no off-leash lake at French Lake Dog Park on Federal Way. And until recently, it wasn’t particularly French either.

When Hanna Banks set out to find a community project to achieve the Girl Scouts’ highest honor, the Gold Award, she worked with local partners to build the “Bark de Triomphe,” a five-foot high archway that the parks should challenge and entertain four-legged visitors.

Nearby, she coordinated the construction of the “Macaron Maze,” a collection of colorful tires that serve as a sort of animal agility course.

The new features are just part of a fully fenced, ten-acre doggy paradise. French Lake Dog Park is located at 31531 First Ave. S., Federal Way, and is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m
