Above average temps until weak front arrives

Tampa, Fla. (WFLA) – While humidity may not be as high as the past few days, temperatures quickly climbed to 90s lows this afternoon. The heat index will remain in the upper mid 90s.

Most of the rain will last until after 3pm and that’s when a few showers come in. There’s a 30% chance of rain this evening as the storms make landfall towards the Gulf of Mexico this evening. It’s still warm tonight in the mid 70’s.

We’ll be back to 90s lows tomorrow afternoon, above average for late May. Rain chance is still 30%, but storms will drift inland rather than coast by night. That was thanks to a stronger wind off the Gulf of Mexico against a weak front.

That front will arrive on Friday with a 60% chance of rain. Many communities will have rain on Friday, but it won’t rain everywhere. Additional clouds and rain help keep the 80s high above.

A few protracted showers continued through Saturday, especially into the morning. Highs maintained in the 80’s on. It will be slightly drier on Sunday with just a 30% chance of rain.

Memorial Day will be like summer with highs nearing 90 degrees and a 40% chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.
