As COVID-19 raged across the country, there were two key medical advisers close to Donald Trump. Dr. Anthony Fauci has little patience with Trump’s refusal to take the matter seriously. However, Dr Deborah Birx remained around, even praising the former President for his grasp of scientific topics.
Birx has now written a book to make the most of her time in the White House. And she went on a giveaway tour to promote the movie. CNN’s Jim Acosta, however, doesn’t let her take it easy.
Acosta began, “I talked to Trump advisers, people close to the president at the time, who thought it was understandable for him to talk about injecting himself with disinfectant, and Do you think there’s something wrong with this guy?”
The doctor countered, “Honestly, I was flabbergasted in that moment. Apparently, at the end of that, I said, not a treatment, contacted the CDC, the FDA and asked them to post that, and within seconds of leaving the press conference, make sure the senior advisers know they need to go to the president and tell him that this, as you said, is a fraud. “
Not letting her leave the story, Acosta continued:
“But I have to come back to this question because for me, it confuses me to this day. How could anyone with their right mind work with a president that at the time thought he was dealing with reality? If you go to any person on the street and someone is rambling about injecting you with disinfectant, you will question what is going on in their head and here he will be the president of the store. months and months of dealing with the pandemic. ”
