Actor and comedian Leslie Jordan dies in Hollywood crash

HOLLYWOOD, California– Leslie Jordan, the Emmy-winning actor whose tongue-in-cheek Southern streak and versatility has made him standout comedy and drama on TV shows like Will & Grace” and “American Horror Story” died. He was 67.

“The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan. Not only was he a mega-talent and a pleasure to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary for the nation at one of its most difficult times,” a Jordanian official said in a statement Monday. “Knowing that he left the world at the peak of his professional and personal life is the only consolation one can have today.”

The Tennessee native, who starred in 2005’s Will & Grace,” recently appeared in the Mayim Bialik comedy Call Me Kat and starred in the sitcom The Cool Kids.

Jordan’s other versatile credits include “Fantasy Island”, “The United States vs. Billie Holiday”.

Jordan gained an unexpected new following in 2021 while spending time close to family in his hometown during the pandemic lockdown. He broke equality by posting videos of himself on Instagram daily.

In many of Jordan’s videos, he asked, “How are you?” and some included stories about Hollywood or his childhood growing up with identical twin sisters and their “mommy,” as he called them. Other times he would do silly things like complete an indoor obstacle course.

“Someone called from California and said, ‘Oh honey, you’ve gone viral.’ And I said, ‘No, no, I don’t have Covid. I’m just in Tennessee,” Jordan said. Celebrities like Michelle Pfeiffer, Jessica Alba and Anderson Cooper, as well as brands like Reebok and Lululemon, posted comments.

He soon became fixated on the number of views and followers he had because there wasn’t much else going on.

“It was like obsessive for a while. And I thought, ‘This is ridiculous. And I was like, ‘You’re only 65. You’re not a teenage girl.’”

The limelight led to new opportunities. Earlier this month he released a gospel album called Company’s Comin’ featuring Dolly Parton, Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Eddie Vedder and Tanya Tucker. He has written a new book, How Youall Doing?: Misadventures and Mischief from a Life Well Lived.
