Media Take Out has previously reported that actress Cynthia Erivo and Lena Waithe appeared to be a couple. Well, the couple have decided to come out publicly during Pride month.
After two years of speculation, Lena Waithe, 38, and Cynthia Erivo, 35, have confirmed the rumors surrounding their dating. According to online reports, the couple appeared together at the Alvin Ailey Spirit Gala last Thursday night (June 16).
While the alleged couple took photos separately on the red carpet, multiple sources were seen walking hand-in-hand into the Lincoln Center auditorium.
The Chicago native and British actress first sparked dating rumors in 2020 after they were spotted at multiple red carpet events together. Despite the speculation, they have never acknowledged the status of their relationship.
But now that it’s Pride month, the couple have decided to officially come out.
Lena Waithe is an actress, producer and screenwriter. She is the creator of the Showtime drama series The Chi (since 2018) and the BET comedy series Boomerang (since 2019-20) and Twenties (since 2020). She also wrote and produced the crime drama Queen & Slim (2020) and is executive producer of the horror anthology series Them (since 2021).
Waithe gained recognition for her role on the Netflix comedy-drama series Master of None (since 2015) and in 2017 became the first black woman to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for writing the “Thanksgiving” episode of the Series loosely based on her personal experience of coming out to her mother. She has also appeared in Steven Spielberg’s 2018 adventure film Ready Player One and the HBO series Westworld.
Cynthia Erivo is an English actress, singer and songwriter. She has received multiple awards, including a Daytime Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, and a Tony Award, as well as nominations for two Academy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.
She gained recognition for her starring role in the 2015-2017 Broadway revival of The Color Purple, for which she won the 2016 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. Erivo ventured into films in 2018, playing roles in heist film Widows and thriller Bad Times at the El Royale.
