After Thailand Mass Shooting, Families Grieve Loss of Children

UTHAI SAWAN, Thailand — Thawatchai Sriphu loves to play hide-and-seek and often demands money from his grandmother for snacks. The 4-year-old was among 36 people, most of them children, who were killed in a brutal massacre on Thursday at a childcare center in the northeast of the country.

The gunman is a former police officer identified as Panya Kamrab, 34, who attacked the center during an early afternoon nap. He used a 9mm pistol to shoot the victim, stabbed the victim several times with a knife and continued to shoot as he drove home, killing more people on the road. He later shot himself after killing his wife and child at their home.
