AJAX’s trip to Groningen on Sunday was cut short after several smoke bombs were thrown onto the pitch.

Several smoke bombs were thrown onto the field while some Groninger fans also stormed the field.

Groningen were relegated to the Dutch second tier with a 1-1 draw at Go Ahead Eagles last week and today’s game was their first home game since being sent off.

The game was initially stopped in the sixth minute before the game was abandoned after ten minutes.
