Alfonso Ribeiro reports on his daughter’s recovery after a scooter accident

Before her accident and the “emergency surgery” that followed, Ribeiro says, his wife told the whole family, “I have a feeling my daughter needs to go to the emergency room this week. Don’t let her do anything that could hurt her.”
Alfonso Ribeiro’s daughter Ava has “a long recovery process” ahead of her after being admitted to the emergency room after a scooter accident last week before her fourth birthday.
The “Dancing with the Stars” host appeared on “Live with Kelly and Mark” on Tuesday and opened up about what happened to his daughter after he first revealed on Instagram last week that she had been injured.
“Unfortunately, my daughter was injured and had to have emergency surgery,” said the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum. “So it was a very stressful weekend. She fell and practically had a rash on her face and arm so they had to cut off all the skin with a scalpel.”

He further claimed that just before it happened, his wife Angela – with whom he shares three of his four children – had more than a passing premonition that something bad was about to happen to Ava.
“The difficult part is that my wife really does listen to her intuition and on Thursday she actually pulled everyone into the kitchen and said to everyone, ‘I have a feeling my daughter is going to the ER this week. Don’t let them do anything.’ that she could injure herself in the process,” he recalls. “Obviously that was ignored. And so my nanny ran back inside to get pads and stuff [Ava] I drove anyway with a small seat scooter.
Ribeiro said his other half had been “mental” “most of their life” and “very rarely did things wrong and saw things coming.” He added, “You don’t always listen to that feeling, and I think that all mothers have this beautiful intuition.”

Ribeiro first revealed Ava’s injuries last Thursday but didn’t reveal what caused them at the time.
“Not the kind of day you want on the day before you turn 4. I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to @kareskinmd for the emergency services and approach that helped reduce the likelihood of anxiety,” he wrote on Instagram. “So proud of how brave my little girl was during surgery.”
Then on Sunday, he shared more photos of her celebrating her fourth birthday after her accident.
“Happy Birthday to my sweet Ava Sue. As some of you know, Ava has had a very difficult week. I’m so proud of how well she handled it all,” he captioned the pics from her party. “She is so brave, strong and creative. I love everything about my little girl.”
“By the way, I’m forever grateful [wife Angela] for being so amazing during that time,” he concluded. “Long nights with a little girl who was in pain and needed medication every few hours.” My two [heroes].”
In addition to Ava, the actor and Angela have sons AJ (9) and Anders (8) together. He is also father to 20-year-old daughter Sienna, whom he shares with first wife Robin Stapler.
