All those ‘Glass Onion’ cameos, ranked

glass onionThe cast of is the definition of star cast. You have Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista and of course Daniel Craig as Detective Benoit Blanc. However, the film picks up extra wattage when we factor in all of its cameos.

Director Rian Johnson has gathered some of the best stars of stage, film and sports to take a look glass onion for a few fun seconds of screen time. And what better way to celebrate the sheer numbers glass onion‘s cameos as by order of precedence? Granted, every cameo rocks, so I’m basically rating them on a scale from “amazing” to “amazing” while considering their surprise factor and plot impact.

As always, there are lots of spoilers, so if you don’t want the mystery by glass onion yet to be unfolded for you, proceed with caution.

Honorable “Mentions”: Jeremy Renner, Jared Leto and Anderson Cooper

Do Jeremy Renner, Jared Leto and Anderson Cooper officially cameo one glass onion? no But they’re named in a fairly plot-relevant way. Jeremy Renner’s hot sauce is a key mainstay, as is Jared Leto’s hard kombucha, while Anderson Cooper’s birthday party offers an odd clue. Sure they aren’t technically Cameos, but they’re certainly honorable mentions.

7.Ethan Hawke

Ethan Hawke rushes in glass onion spraying an unknown substance down the throats of all of Mile Bron’s (Edward Norton) guests before they set foot on his private island. The throat spray supposedly protects against or eliminates COVID, but we don’t know what else it is. As Hawke’s character (who is dubbed “Efficient Man”) simply tells guests, “You’re good.”

I’m always happy to see Hawke in anything, so don’t take his inclusion at the bottom of the list as an insult to him. Instead, it’s more of an easy thing to do against his character. You’re telling me Miles has access to a miracle cure for COVID and isn’t spreading it around the world? He really is the worst. To be honest, so does Efficient Man, because he didn’t referee the whole operation. Get Out Efficient Man and Bring the COVID Cure to the Masses! Shoot everyone in the throat if you have to.

6. Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt – who starred in Rian Johnson’s brilliant, fast-talking teen noir brick and grinder — Returns for a glass onion cameo that is both hilarious and ultra-subtle. did you catch it

5. Noah Segan

Like Gordon-Levitt, Noah Segan has a rich history of appearing in Johnson’s projects, including brick, The Bloom brothersand even Johnson’s episode of breaking Bad. Here, as the chilled intruder Derol, he steals almost every scene he’s in with just a few lines.

4.Hugh Grant

During glass onion may not be recreated knife outChris Evans “sweater” moment, it sent me into a fit when Hugh Grant showed up in the film’s extended flashback wearing an apron and lightly floured. Grant plays Phillip, Benoit Blanc’s partner, and his pinafore attire makes him either a great baker or During the quarantine he started baking. (To be fair, the two aren’t mutually exclusive.) Anyway, Grant hasn’t been on screen long, but what a joy to see him in Benoit Blanc’s world.

3. Yo-Yo Ma

Imagine this: you are Rian Johnson and you need someone to explain the musical concept of the fugue to the audience. Who are you calling? Well, how about the world famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma?

Ma appears at the beginning of the film as one of Birdie Jay’s (Hudson) party guests. He gives us a crash course in joints that ultimately helps glass onionThe characters of solve a crucial puzzle field. Action-relevant, informative and surprising? Now that’s what I call a great cameo. The only thing that pulls this cameo down is that in May 2020, Ma is at an angry party. This is a recipe for a COVID disaster! Unless, of course, he has access to Ethan Hawke’s miracle spray.

How deep does it all go?

2.Serena Williams

The best part about Serena Williams’ performance glass onion is that at first you don’t know it’s a cameo by Serena Williams. When you see Williams on a screen at Miles’ gym, your first thought might be, “Huh, that’s a great Serena Williams screensaver.” But then she starts talking and asks Benoit if he wants to work out. Turns out she’s on the watch, presumably as Miles’ personal trainer. Though Miles is seldom around by the looks of it, she spends most of her time reading. Honestly, she’s the GOAT, and she deserves to do whatever she wants – in particular when what she wants appears in it glass onion.
