“Always supported him as a superior talent”

Former Real Madrid general manager Jorge Valdano hailed Karim Benzema as a ‘transcendental talent’ and praised him for reaching the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Karim Benzema has been in excellent form for Real Madrid this season, scoring for fun, providing assists without breaking a sweat, and taking the lead from attack.

The French played an important role in Los Blancos’ The Champions League returns to Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City, scoring 11 goals in six games. The 34-year-old has headed the net 44 times in appearances in all competitions.

Valdano, who traded at Real Madrid from 1984 to 1987, praised Karim Benzema for going through a transition and becoming an ‘influential’ player. Speaking to Cadena Ser’s Manu Carreno, Valdano said:

“He has changed a lot, including in the emotional sphere. He has become a huge influence on the rest of the players. He spends the game talking, broadcasting it. An unthinkable 5 years ago. And then, his relationship with the target, is phenomenal. ”

He also discussed Benzema’s efficiency improvement in front of goal, asserting that his numbers are comparable to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. He added:

“I never thought we would find another specimen that could reach the numbers of Messi and Cristiano so soon. That’s Benzema. I always support him as a transcendent talent. It’s more fun than productive. He also defends with numbers, not just words. You get stats and Benzema explained. “

Real Madrid’s Benzema has comfortably surpassed Ronaldo and Messi in the period 2021-22

The 2021-22 campaign sees both Ronaldo and Messi move to new clubs. While the Portuguese joined Manchester United, the Argentine signed with Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent. Unfortunately, neither of them have been able to live up to their own high standards this season.

While Ronaldo has scored 24 goals and provided three assists across the league, PSG has not. 30 has just 11 goals and 13 assists.

Benzema, on the other hand, has scored 44 goals and has 15 assists in all competitions. Thanks to his acumen in front of goal, Benzema is currently the leading scorer in La Liga (27) as well as the Champions League (15).

The Frenchman has also displayed impeccable construction and composure under pressure, emerging as Europe’s best striker.
