Apple’s second-gen AirPods Pro aren’t even a month away, and you can still find a deal on them. The price has dropped a bit as part of Amazon’s big Prime Day sale. You can pick up a pair of the new AirPods Pro for $235, which is $14 off the regular price. Sure, that’s not the steepest discount ever, but it’s the lowest price we’ve seen for the earbuds so far.

We gave the latest AirPods Pro a score of 88 in our test, an improvement over the 87 we gave the first-gen set. While the design appears to be the same, Apple has made a few upgrades to the internals (including the introduction of an H2 chip) as well as the exterior. The latest high-end earphones feature swipe controls. However, we found them a bit finicky and had to hold the stem with our thumb to swipe the volume. The second-gen AirPods Pro also offer mediocre battery life (six hours with Active Noise Cancellation on and seven hours with Active Noise Cancellation off), and we’ve had mixed results with the Personalized Spatial Audio feature, with an overly height-focused sound profile.

Overall, though, we felt the second-gen AirPods Pro were a solid upgrade over the first-edition earbuds. Apple has improved the sound quality (including for SharePlay audio) and offers the best transparency mode of any earbud. The new AirPods Pro also deliver solid ANC performance. Additionally, the ability to seamlessly switch from one Apple device to another comes in handy for those entrenched in the company’s ecosystem.

The charging case now has a speaker, which should make it easier for users to pinpoint its location if they misplace it (a U1 chip for locating with Find My also helps). The case, like the earbuds, is IPX4-rated and has a lanyard loop – although you’ll need to purchase a lanyard separately.
