Arsenal edge closer to Kai Havertz deal and gear up for third Declan Rice bid

Arsenal are making good progress in talks to sign Chelsea striker Kai Havertz and are preparing to make a third offer for West Ham captain Declan Rice.
The Gunners are looking to add to the squad that coach Mikel Arteta led to second place in the Premier League last season.
Rice was considered a top target earlier in the year, but the PA news agency reckons a move from Havertz could now also be on the cards.
The 24-year-old has scored 19 Premier League goals in 91 games for the Blues but could move across London and join the Gunners.
It’s understood no new offer has been made for Havertz just yet, but the valuation gap between the clubs is huge.
West Ham on Tuesday turned down a second offer for Rice, which would have made the England midfielder equal to Arsenal’s all-time signing.
The structure of Arsenal’s bid bid is believed to be the problem for West Ham, who are keen to stay the course and receive £100m for their captain.
Arsenal have also been linked with moves from Ajax to Southampton midfielders Romeo Lavia and Jurrien Timber.
