But their friendship was put on hold when their beloved teams went head-to-head at St James’ Park.

And Wrighty didn’t hold back at all as he delighted in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Newcastle as the pair covered the game for the Premier League’s Matchday Live show.

Martin Odegaard’s long-range effort put the Gunners ahead and a Fabian Schar own goal sealed the points to keep the pressure on leaders Manchester City.

In a brilliant video shared by the ex-Highbury hero, Wright lets out a whole series of enthusiastic cheers, cheers, screams and fists – before screaming, “Look at Al’s face.”

But in the background, Geordie Shearer remains mostly expressionless before allowing himself a crooked smile.

Wright later posted the clip Twitterand added kissing and smiling emojis as he tagged his Match of the Day pal.

And Gunners supporters loved the antics of the second-highest goalscorer in history.

One said: “I love him so much.”
