Arsenal have now shelved interest in Brazilian talent to go after a £25m star

Arsenal are reportedly cooling their interest in Brazilian talent Danilo in the January transfer window to seek a deal to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.

According to 90min, the Premier League leaders have made the Belgium international their main target in midfield for the next month, with Tielemans likely to leave the Foxes as the 25-year-old’s contract expires in the summer transfer window.

Football London says Tielemans could be available for £25m in January

This change in Arsenal’s stance could be seen as the Gunners abandoning all interest in Danilo, but as indicated by 90min, the Palmeiras prodigy is still very much on the radar of Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar, with a move in the Summer probably from the English giants.

Indeed, the decision to shift the focus from Danilo to Tielemans instead is a fairly wise decision by Arsenal as many fans would agree signing an experienced midfielder would be better in the short term than talent that is needed. a season or two to fully adapt to the Premier League.

Furthermore, with Arsenal heading into Boxing Day at the top of the English top flight, there is a real possibility the Gunners could win the Premier League and as exciting as a midfielder Danilo is, signing Tielemans would be the safer and more sensible option for Arteta January.

Arsenal have previously been victims of failure to act in the January transfer window, as evidenced earlier this year when Arteta was unable to add to the squad that ultimately played a big part in helping the Gunners finish in the top-4 missed. And the north Londoners cannot afford to make the same mistake again.

That’s why Arsenal’s plan to sign an experienced midfielder is such an encouraging sign. A move from Tielemans to Danilo is a good step in the right direction for Arteta’s side heading into the second half of the Premier League season.
