As Arsenal beat Bournemouth 3-0 this weekend, the Gunners not only jumped to the top of the Premier League table, they saw a member of their team take first place in a key statistic for the league’s 30-year history occupied .
Oleksandr Zinchenko, the new £30m signing, played every 90 minutes in Saturday’s win at Vitality Stadium and came out on top as the carrier of the highest career win percentage of any player with 50+ Premier League appearances.
Zinchenko has now played a total of 79 top-flight games, winning 65 of them, both with new club Arsenal (three games) and former club Manchester City (76th).
With a winning share of more than 82% in the Premier League, the Ukraine left-back can now claim to have a better personal record than any other player, despite many of his former City team-mates lurking close behind.
76 played, 59 won – 77.6%
While Keita has barely proved himself as a midfielder for Liverpool in the four years since arriving from RB Leipzig for £48million, he has managed to amass an impressive win rate by making appearances in a period of sustained success.
Injuries and faltering form have seen the Guinea international manage more than 16 Premier League starts in a single season (during his debut season in 2018-19), but his cumulative minutes during the Reds’ long unbeaten streak leave him on this one be at the top of the list.
4. Phil Foden (Manchester City)
99 played, 79 won – 79.8%
A City Academy product, Foden was gradually integrated into the first-team by manager Pep Guardiola but has since become a fixture of Etihad’s midfield.
He’s just 22 and has won four Premier League titles in the five seasons since making his top-flight debut for City as a teenage prodigy in 2017/18. With such an impressive track record, it’s perhaps unsurprising that Foden has contributed to many wins during this period.
108 played, 88 won – 81.5%
Laporte is the only player in the top five to have played over 100 Premier League games and thanks to his position at the heart of City’s near-watertight defence, he has had an impressive since arriving from Athletic Club in 2018 from £57m balance sheet collected.
In his 108 games in the English top flight, the French-born Spain centre-back has won an incredible 88 times, contributing eight goals.
2. Arjen Robben (Chelsea)
67 played, 55 won – 82.1%
Incredibly, after a £12.1million move from PSV in 2004, Robben made just 67 league appearances for Chelsea in his three years at the club. But although injuries limited his involvement to one point, Robben still scored 15 league goals and provided 10 assists for Chelsea, who won two titles and four domestic cups before joining Real Madrid.
The winger became an undisputed star under Jose Mourinho as the Blues continued their transformation from midfielders to Premier League heavyweights.
79 played, 65 won – 82.3%
Victory over Bournemouth on Saturday not only extended Arsenal’s perfect start to the 2022/23 season, it also saw Zinchenko push past Robben and take first place in the odds list.
The lion’s share was at ex-club Manchester City, with whom the 25-year-old full-back lifted nine major trophies (including four Premier League titles) before moving to the Emirates in the summer.
