Ashton Kutcher says he battled vasculitis, a rare disease that left him unable to see, hear or walk: ‘Lucky to be alive’

LOS ANGELES — Actor and producer Ashton Kutcher says he’s “lucky to be alive” after a private battle with a rare autoimmune disease.

The health crisis happened about two years ago.

Kutcher made the reveal in the National Geographic series Running Wild with Bear Grylls.

The actor says a rare form of vasculitis has taken away his vision, hearing and some motor control. Kutcher told Grylls it took him about a year to rebuild.

The episode of “Running Wild” aired August 8 on National Geographic.
