Avatar 2’s first trailer needs fewer Na’vi and more Pandora

After 13 long years and countless delays and date changes, it’s finally time to return to the world of Pandora with a sequel. Avatar. The first trailer for Avatar: The Road of Water will play first Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessand that will be the only official way to watch it for at least the next week.

The sequel returns to Sam Worthington as Jake Sully and Zoe Saldaña as his Na’vi lover, Neytiri, and the first trailer, oddly enough, focuses on them instead of the alien world Pandora’s beauty. Avatar 2 is set for release on December 16.

Disney provided a preview of the trailer ahead of the pre-screening of Doctor Strange 2. Attendees of CinemaCon, an industry event for theater owners and operators held last week in Las Vegas, also got to see for the first time. Avatar 2 tease first.

The first trailer for Avatar 2 mostly wordless, instead it’s the uplifting music you might expect if you remember the first movie well. Its main focus is on Na’vi and Avatars, Na’vi bodies genetically engineered by humans and operated through a remote brain interface. The trailer features multiple close-ups of Na’vi, riding alien animals, walking with humans, and standing in or running through man-made structures. In other words, the trailer doesn’t get nearly enough of Pandora’s involvement.

When the original Avatar released in 2009, the blue CGI Na’vi characters look great, with stunning facial expressions and amazing movements. But its real staying power lies in the beauty and grandeur of Pandora’s digital landscape. After all, the planet is so gorgeous that some people say they feel extremely depressed because they can’t live there. It was even the basis of a hugely successful Disney World location.

AvatarThe first trailer of the series focuses on the beauty of Pandora flora and fauna. There are floating islands covered with vibrant flowers and huge trees, strange alien creatures that look like a cross between a leopard and a lion, and huge flying beasts that carry people around. animals – and more importantly us – on a high-flying journey, to tease some breathtaking terraforming planets.

The first trailer for Avatar: The Road of Water miss that majesty. By highlighting the characters, the trailer shrinks Pandora down to a trivial setting that could be any forest or ocean on our planet, with the exception of the emphasis on the four-finned creatures. or four wings. There are short shots of various new characters, all of which look great once again. These characters are usually riding creatures, but the camera focuses tightly on them, obscuring their mounts and leaving the flooded expanses of Pandora’s new regions looking bland.

The good news is that what we’ve seen so little about Pandora’s new aquariums still looks amazing. The digital rendering is even more impressive than in the first film, and it seems clear that there will still be plenty of beautiful footage of the planet. But it’s hard to get excited about returning to the world of Pandora when we barely get to see it. And it doesn’t look like the trailer focuses on plot instead of environment – there are no obvious story elements here, other than a single voiceover from Jake about how family is a fortress.

Along with several other returning cast members, such as Sigourney Weaver and Giovanni Ribisi, Avatar 2 will add many new actors and characters, including Kate Winslet and Michelle Yeoh. Several actors told stories of their experiences filming the film, which sounded like an absolute nightmare.

To help prepare the audience Avatar: The Road of WaterDisney will re-release the original Avatar in theaters, starting September 23.

In the past, director James Cameron has said that he plans to make up to five Avatar movies, and even shot some of them. Currently, the movies are slated to come out every two years between now and 2028, so Disney will have more shot at creating trailers that focus less on the unknown characters making the movie. the unknown, and more about the world the filmmakers are inviting us to revisit.
