The third episode of The Bachelorette begins with the boys getting a preview of the week ahead from Jesse. He tells them there will be two one-on-one dates as well as a massive group date. With over 20 men in the house, Gabby and Rachel really need to start digging deeper into these men.
Rachel and Zach one-on-one on the red carpet
The date card shows that Zach has been chosen for the first one-on-one of the week. Rachel and Zach head out on their date and the couple is greeted by Karamo, a relationship expert. He lets her know that they’ll be attending a red carpet premiere, so of course it’s time for a fashion show.
After a fun montage of glitzy outfits (including Zach’s), the pair strut the red carpet and pose for photos. As the curtain rises on their surprisingly private show, the title card reads “Me and You” — not a blockbuster movie premiere, but a delightful home video screening starring Rachel and Zach.
They reminisce and bond over the coincidence that both of their fathers would drive them to the airport to watch planes take off and land – what are the odds? They kiss, dance and Rachel offers him the rose.
Gabby’s date with Erich and Grandpa John’s return!
Erich gets his second one-on-one date of the week, but learns it’s actually going to be a two-on-one. No, he’s not going on a date with Rachel and Gabby. Instead, Gabby’s grandpa John — made famous in Bachelor Nation by Gabby’s hometown date on Clayton’s season — joins their date.
The outing begins with the three going into a sound bath, followed by a night of bowling where Grandpa John may have found a love connection of his own. The day is filled with laughter, but once we get to the evening portion of the date, things take a more serious tone.
Gabby is open about not being in a relationship with her mother and feeling like she’s just too damaged for anyone to love. She gets emotional and steps away to calm herself. Upon her return, Erich says he likes her very much and will always be open and honest. This calms her fears and she offers him the rose.
The biggest group date in Bachelor history
With so many men left without dates this week, Rachel and Gabby decide to have a huge group date with the remaining 19 men. What do you do on a group date with so many people? The answer is a photo shoot (it’s always a photo shoot).
The men are presented with a variety of different attire ranging from formal attire to cowboy outfits. We’re treated to another hilarious montage as the men pose with Gabby and Rachel. Tino, Logan, Nate, and Tyler get the “proposal” photoshoot while other men are literally dressed as babies (yes, diapers and all).
Next we move on to the evening portion of the group date where things are looking good for Rachel but are turning sour for Gabby. While Gabby appreciates her honesty, Tyler, Hayden and Jacob all tell her that they are there to pursue Rachel. Hayden even goes so far as to say he doesn’t want to be with someone who’s “rough around the edges,” which is pretty offensive. It fuels Gabby’s insecurities and eventually results in her not giving away a group date rose. However, Rachel gives Aven her group date rose.
Cocktail party canceled and the most dramatic rose ceremony ever
Just before the evening of shuffling is scheduled to begin, Jesse informs the men that the cocktail party is being canceled. He also drops another bombshell on the men: This process no longer works for Gabby and Rachel. He explains that they will split the men into two groups from this point on. One group will work to find love for Rachel and the other will explore her journey with Gabby.
This is where it gets sticky. Each woman shares each of her roses, but men must bond with one woman or another. No more playing on both sides (look at you, Logan and Mario).
That’s how it all went. Below is a list of all the roses that were offered and whether the guy accepted or declined.
– Tino (accepted)
– Logan (accepted)
– Termayne (rejected)
– Alec (rejected)
– Tyler (accepted)
– Jordan (accepted)
– Meatball (Rejected)
– Hayden (accepted)
– Nate (accepted)
– Johnny (accepted)
– Jason (accepted)
– Mario (accepted)
– Kirk (accepted)
– Quincey (accepted)
Rachel is justifiably embarrassed when three of the men offer her a rose to refuse. You can check out the drama in the video featured in the player above.
The men sent home without Rose are Meatball, Termayne, Alec, and Jacob, but have we seen the last of them? As the credits roll, we see Meatball basically begging Rachel to let him stay, and we’re sticking with that cliffhanger until next week’s episode!
Do you think Rachel will take him back? Or has that meatball passed its sell-by date? Find out next week on The Bachelorette.
