Ben Cull dead: Ex-England youth star dies aged 23 following battle with cancer weeks after proposal to girlfriend
Former England youth star Ben Cull has died aged 23 after a long battle with cancer.
The former Southampton academy player began battling Ewing’s sarcoma at the tender age of 17.

His condition worsened in recent months, leading him to propose to his long-term girlfriend Daisy Morrison
But just weeks after proposing to the love of his life in hospital, he tragically lost his battle with the rare bone and soft tissue disease.
Heartbroken Daisy announced Cull’s tragic death in an emotional Instagram post, writing: “Saying goodbye was the hardest for me.”
“Yesterday I lost my entire life, my fiancé, my soulmate, my person, my entire world. I always hoped and prayed that this day would never come.”
“Real heartbreak is real, my heart physically hurts and I have never felt pain like this.
“My mother and father couldn’t have chosen a better soulmate for me, they adore you, they consider you a son and they are doing so much right now.”
“They say you choose someone like your dad and god you were like dad, two peas to a piece, best friends, I couldn’t have asked for a stronger bromance.”
“You fought until the end, my darling. I know you did absolutely everything to stay and even though you suffered so badly, you carried on, for which I will be forever grateful. You never gave up, God just had his own plans.”

“One thing I can say with certainty is that we made the most of every single second.
“She and I both said we would rather meet our soulmate and have less time than live a whole life without each other.
“You were the reason I smiled every day, the reason I woke up, you were the first person I turned to with a problem, the person I felt safe next to every night, the person who made a whole room laugh, you.” Was my reason for everything, you gave me a purpose.
“The only person I want to talk to right now is you, and I can’t do what’s breaking me.”
“You’ve told me so many times to be brave for you and to never give up, and I promise I’ll try.”
“I miss you so much already and I will spend every second of my darling bowing, cuddling, kissing, laughing, texting and everything.
“My heart will never heal from this hole you left behind.
“Letting you go will always be the hardest thing I ever have to do.
“Goodnight baby, see you up there one day. We will be reunited, my darling, and finish the story, for it is not over yet.”
Cull began his career in Southampton’s academy and became part of the U18 team in the summer of 2015.
