Ben and Erin Napier on Home Town Takeover.

Ben and Erin Napier are not playing favourites. The HGTV stars stopped by The Kelly Clarkson Show to discuss their upcoming season of Home Town Takeover. You’re helping revitalize the small town of Fort Morgan, Colorado.

The Napiers explained to Clarkson how the ward was chosen. “They were one of the 6,000 cities that applied for the first season,” Erin said on the talk show. “And that’s how HGTV chose the cities. We have not selected any favourites. I want to be very clear about that.”

The couple admitted they had never been to the state prior to filming.

“We were on the prairie in northeastern Colorado, which doesn’t look like the Colorado in the movies,” explained woodworker Clarkson. Erin added, “We didn’t know. We figured it would be in the mountains because we’ve never been to Colorado. I just thought that was all the mountains.”

Ben and Erin are known for renovating homes around their own small town of Laurel, Mississippi in “Home Town”. They helped breathe new life into Wetumpka, Alabama, in Season 1 of Home Town Takeover.

“You know, Alabama is just the back of Mississippi,” Ben explained during the performance. Erin quipped, “The mirror. We are mirror images of each other.”

Ben & Erin Napier have teamed up with Dave & Jenny Marrs for Season 2

The Napiers led the charge last season but this time they are teaming up with Dave and Jenny Marrs. Announcing their partnership in July 2022, Erin wrote on Instagram, “Jenny and Dave will help us carry the burden so we can do more without losing our collective sanity.”

The Fixer to Fabulous stars found fame renovating historic homes around their town of Bentonville, Arkansas. Colorado is actually Dave’s home state.

As Ben and Erin explained on The Kelly Clarkson Show, they tackle “public spaces and community projects,” including the “downtown facade.” They added that Dave and Jenny are focused on “the residential side of it.”

The two couples are also joined by HGTV and Food Network stars. Discovery announced in a press release that the 10 expert guests include Jonathan Knight of Farmhouse Fixer; Michelle Yeh from Girl Meets Farm; Ben and Cristi Dozier from Building Roots; Superchef Grudge Match’s Darnell Ferguson; Carmeon Hamilton from “Reno My Rental”; Lil Jon from Lil Jon Wanna Do What?; Ty Pennington from “Rock the Block”; Jasmin Roth “Help! I Wrecked My House and Page Turner from Fix My Flip.

Ben & Erin Napier helped the town figure out who they are

Ben and Erin worked to bring a sense of “pride” to Fort Morgan, they explained on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“Our goal was to help this town figure out who they are,” Ben explained on the show. “It was, you know, how to brand a city, for lack of a better term, into something that shows the pride of the people who live there. The pride in who they are.”

The Napiers made it clear that renaming the city was something they would have to do themselves.

“The city came up with ‘Oasis on the Plains,'” continued the 39-year-old. “Because it’s literally like when you’re driving through a desert landscape on the plains and then in Fort Morgan there’s a river and it’s like this city was built around it.”

Erin added, “You have to know who you are before you can tell the story of who you are, and that was our big goal.”

Over six episodes, they will complete “18 renovation projects in homes, local businesses and public spaces,” according to a press release. Season 2 of “Home Town Takeover” will premiere on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time.
