Best early Prime Day laptop deals: Acer Swift X, Razer Blade 15, and more

During Amazon’s flagship Prime Day sale, it’s easy to find quality deals on lots of tech – but not so much on laptops. The retailer’s listings are teeming with dubious third-party sellers and discontinued items, making it difficult to separate the “must buys” from the “too good to be true” ones. And in the past, better and less misleading prices have been achieved elsewhere for top brands like Apple, HP, Acer, Microsoft, Lenovo, Dell and ASUS on competing sales. (Hello, Best Buy.)

Below we’ve compiled an extremely selective list of the best, and indeed most worthwhile, laptop deals to buy on Amazon ahead of this year’s Prime Day sale on July 11th and 12th. We’ve checked all of these listings against the manufacturer of each model. Fewer than two dozen offers made it, so it’s not a bad idea to leave your cart empty for now – things are likely to get a little livelier once the event officially begins. However, there is one particularly good business day that requires some preliminary action on your part:

Last year’s Acer Swift X promises “extreme performance” in a thin, light form factor for developers on the go. This particular configuration features a fast, task-oriented AMD Ryzen 7 5825U processor, 16GB of RAM, NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti graphics, and 512GB of storage. It is one of ten products(opens in a new tab) will be featured in the new Amazon Prime Day deals program by invitation only, meaning the hefty $629.99 retail price will be limited to select Prime members during the event. You must request access to the offer in advance by clicking the yellow button on the product page. If you have been selected to participate, you will receive an email with a unique purchase link in your inbox once the sale goes online.

By the way, ignore Amazon’s list price of $913.07: this laptop is actually available at retail(opens in a new tab) for $1,099.99, making the Prime Day deal even better than advertised. You save a whopping $470 or 43%.

This powerful configuration of the Razer Blade 15 2022 features a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GPU and a terabyte of storage. It received a 4/5 from our friends PCMag(opens in a new tab) (owned by Mashable’s publisher ZiffDavis), who called it the gaming rig with “the best premium blend of portability and performance.” Its sky-high MSRP of $2,999.99 is one of its only notable downsides, but Amazon took a huge hit ahead of Prime Day: you can order it now for $1,952.92, or just over $1,000 off (a savings of 35%). It’s now more affordable than any other Razer Blade 15 configuration(opens in a new tab) with downgraded GeForce RTX 3060 graphics.
