Better Call Saul Season 6, Episode 5 Recap: Boxing Barristers!

Have all of that?

The fact that Jimmy impersonates Howard and performs gonzo art with prostitute Wendy is convincing enough for Cliff to confront Howard after a meeting about his alleged drug problem. Howard took about 30 seconds to piece together what was happening. “I actually have a problem, just not the one you think. I have a problem with Jimmy McGill,” he told Cliff, before calling his assistant and telling her, “Cancel my week”.

So now Jimmy and Kim have a crazy drug lord and a hyperactive law partner comes to them.

Next, we have a fun little fan-service scene where Saul Goodman’s trusty secretary, Francesca Liddy, shows up on her first day at the restroom and almost walks away. Basically, Jimmy has to bribe her, and then she demands a say in the decoration. Cute.

And the legend just kept coming. Who is this nice lady having lunch with Kim? Why, it’s Viola Goto, of course, Kim’s sidekick from Mesa Verde. The ostensibly purpose of the meeting was for Kim to apologize to Viola for leaving her wobbly at Schweikart & Cokely, but she was really looking for information — specifically the identity of the Sandpiper judge. . Viola is forced to cough just before embarrassing Kim by telling her what inspired her decision to fully support her. Oh good!

Now this is one of those half brilliant, half absurd series where you can imagine a writer’s room deciding to go on because, hey, this is the final season and why not? Howard lured Jimmy over [checks notes, confirms this wasn’t a hallucination from drinking coffee laced with bullet lead] an empty boxing ring and invites him to unleash his full aggression once and for all, if that’s possible. Yes, that really happened.

Jimmy almost walked away, but then decided to make his own Rocky Balboa fantasy. For a minute, it looked like Jimmy would get to know Howard better, but then Howard knocked him down. Howard then focused with some sort of private eye (I’m sure this person has some sense in Break Cinematic Universe. So I guess the pragmatic purpose of staging this brawl between inflated lawyers was to lure Jimmy in and establish a tail for him.

Kim was ripping off someone else’s ass on the balcony as Jimmy walked home. Back in the apartment, he’s been trying to experiment with eye makeup solutions to mask his glow, but Kim, as usual, is all “S’all good, man” about it. She filled in Jimmy with the information she’d gathered from Viola, and went to get a picture of the new Judge Sandpiper. From Jimmy’s reaction (“Love the wound” – that’s a lot less to worry about”), we can infer that they’re planning on impersonating the guy. And from Kim’s reaction to Jimmy kicking himself for letting Howard suck him into his game (“You have your reasons… because you know what’s going to happen next”), we have to at least be ourselves. asked if she and Jimmy Wanted was caught doing stunts with Wendy and NAMAST3 Jag. As Howard told Jimmy before the clash of crepuscular advisors, “You’re not even trying to cover your tracks!”
