Biden Goes After Gig Workers

The labor market is cooling off as more and more Americans use side hustle activities like driving to Uber to deal with rising prices. However, now the Biden Administration is declaring war on the so-called gig economy and the multitude of companies that employ freelancers.

The Labor Department on Tuesday proposed a rule that would reclassify millions of independent contractors as employees. About 20 million Americans work as independent contractors, have more autonomy than employees, and can set their own hours for multiple companies at once.
