Black Sea Grain Talks Gain Steam as Russia, Turkey Eye Cooperation

An attempt to ship grain stranded by the Russia-Ukraine war showed progress on Wednesday, when a senior Russian official blessed Turkey’s role in clearing mines from the Black Sea and a senior US official said Washington was working on it to prevent sanctions from blocking Russia’s exports.

Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres has been conducting discussions to find a way to ship grain and sunflower oil that have been blocked in Ukrainian Black Sea ports — and to get Russian grain and fertilizers to world markets.
