Blackpink announces Born Pink world tour, album release date

Blackpink takes the slogan “Blackpink in your area” to a whole new level by hosting what they claim to be the largest world tour by a K-pop girl group.

On Monday, the foursome unveiled the dates for their Born Pink tour, inspired by their forthcoming album of the same name. Group members Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé will kick off with a few shows in Seoul in October before traveling to the US, London, Barcelona, Paris and beyond.

According to the itinerary, Blackpink will be stopping in Los Angeles on November 19, although the venue isn’t specified on the act’s website. Beginning Monday, the K-pop idols will also perform in several other cities across Asia, Australia and New Zealand, with more dates to come.

The Born Pink tour announcement comes less than two weeks after Blackpink announced that its second studio album will be released this fall. The record’s lead single, “Pink Venom,” will be released August 19, ahead of the album’s September 16 release.

Born Pink is set to be released nearly two years after the group’s debut LP, simply titled The Album, was released in October 2020. In April 2019, the global superstars performed their first North American concert at Inglewood’s Forum before performing at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival later that month.

During a May interview with Rolling Stone, Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé spoke about their immediate plans to release and perform new music, as well as what they can expect from the group in the distant future.

“I mean, isn’t Blackpink going to last at least 10 more years? We’ll be almost 40 by then,” Lisa told the music magazine. “One day we’re going to get married and stuff like that. But then I see the Spice Girls getting together for a reunion concert. Can we do that too? Can I dance like this then?”

“Even though we’re 70 and living different lives, I still feel like Blackpink,” Jennie said. “As trite as it sounds, I don’t think Blackpink will ever end up in my heart. It’s part of my family. You cannot deny your family.” Blackpink announces Born Pink world tour, album release date
