Bloodied Derek Chisora survives horror eye gash to controversially beat Gerald Washington in rugged points win

DEREK CHISORA fought through a horror eye tear and beat Gerald Washington on points.
Chisora bounced back from a ten-round loss to Tyson Fury and returned on Anthony Joshua’s undercard.
And he had to work for his points win as many felt the 41-year-old Washington had been robbed on the away ground.
Chisora, 38, started the fight in signature style, pressing on the front foot and executing heavy hooks.
But Washington put in a powerful punch from the start and boxed well on the retreat.
The American was brought down but landed the cleaner punches on the counter, particularly the right uppercut.
Before the start of the fourth round, Chisora had to have the condition of his eye checked by the ringside doctor but was allowed to continue.
On the fifth punch, the British veteran and fan favorite began to have more success, slicing Washington’s body with sharp hooks.
Chisora started to gain momentum and clawed back a few rounds through courage and determination.
But in the last third of the fight, Washigton seemed to have found his second breath.
