Body of girl, 2, found at home as man and woman, both 22, who are ‘know to victim’ arrested on suspicion of murder

Police have arrested a man and woman on suspicion of murder after a toddler was found dead at home.

Rescue workers rushed to the property on Sidegate Lane in Ipswich just after 11.45am yesterday, where they discovered the body of a two-year-old girl.

This morning Officers arrested a 22-year-old Man and a 22-year-old woman on suspicion of murder.

Police say the couple are known to the victim and are not currently looking for other suspects in the case.

Superintendent Jane Topping said: “We are still investigating the exact circumstances that led to the death of this child. Our first inquiries are ongoing and will continue over the weekend.

“Of course, such a discovery is extremely disturbing for everyone involved.

“We ask people not to speculate on social media about the identity of the child or the circumstances of his death.

“A highly visible presence of officers is likely to remain in the area next a few days with tranquilizer patrols.

“These officers are available to speak to affected members of the community.

“This is a rapidly advancing investigation and we are appealing to the local community to receive any information that may support this investigation.”
