A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We were called at around 1.05am on Sunday 20 August to a report of a riot in the Alexander Path area of ​​Motherwell.

“The emergency services were on site and a 22-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

“The death is being treated as unsolved and an investigation is ongoing to clarify the full circumstances.”
