‘Borderlands 3’ is free on PC this week via the Epic Games Store

Gearbox Software’s looter shooter Borderlands 3 Free download on the Epic Games Store next week.

The latest installment in the beloved series is available from today (May 20) until May 26 via the Epic Games Store. First teased as a mystery game on the free games schedule, many suspect it will be a mainstay title – something Epic has confirmed with the free AAA shooter.

Released in 2019, Borderlands 3 is the fourth addition to the series and the first direct sequel in seven years. The game currently holds 81% rating on Metacritic, which means it’s well worth picking up Borderlands fans who haven’t had a chance to play it yet.

Next Borderlands: Sequeltakes place on the moon Pandora, Borderlands 3 is the return to the mainstream Borderlands story. Players can choose from one of four character classes to battle across Pandora in search of loot, and while the story lacks the wit of Handsome Jack, players will go all out fighting the twins. Until June 16, Epic Games will also be holding an annual “Epic Mega Sale”. Each game on sale has its own discount, but users can also use the coupon to take 25% off the price of another game.

Some of the highlights of the sale include Far Cry 6 (Sale 50%), Ghostwire: Tokyo (down 34%), Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade (29% off) and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands (Down 20%). During the sale, Epic will also release a weekly mystery game for free.

In other news, CD Projekt Red announced that the next generation version of The Witcher 3 is set for release at the end of the year.
