British Airways website down as fuming passengers say they can’t check in

Hundreds of people have reported an outage in the past hour, according to DownDetector.

People attempting to use the British Airways website are told: “Pending our system updates, your account is currently inaccessible.”

A later reply read: “Sorry, but ba.com is very busy at the moment and was unable to process your request. Please try again. If it still doesn’t work, maybe try again under each other.”

Angry passengers took to social media to complain, saying they couldn’t check in for their flights.

Maison said: “I’m trying to check in but both the mobile app and the main webpage say it can’t be done! It says you are very busy!”

Another said: “I can’t change my mind Flight because the website is unavailable. I asked if it’s not ok again before my flight what’s happening and they tell me I will count as a no show because I should have changed it two days ago?”

A third said they had “tried for hours to check in” to no avail.

Sun Online Travel has contacted BA for comment.

A spokesman responded on Twitter: “We’re sorry you’re having trouble online.”

“At the moment there are occasional problems. Please try again later.”

“If you still cannot check in online, please go to the airport and our staff will check you in.”
