Brooklyn bishop Lamor Whitehead robbed at gunpoint during Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries livestream, police say

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — A Brooklyn bishop was robbed at gunpoint during a live stream of his sermon Sunday morning, police said.

Bishop Lamor Whitehead stood on the stage at the Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries as men in dark hooded outfits entered the room, video released by ABC news network WABC shows.

Raw video from the live stream:

“When I saw them coming into the sanctuary with their guns, I said to everyone, ‘Down,'” Whitehead said in a video posted to Instagram. “I didn’t know if they wanted to shoot my church or if they came for a robbery.”

The bishop said the men targeted him and his wife and stole “hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.” The men stole a “large sum of jewelry,” but the total value was not immediately available, the New York City Police Department said.

Three “unidentified people entered the scene, robbed the victim and fled the scene in a white Mercedes traveling east on Avenue D,” police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
