Brush fire in Sylmar threatens homes

A bushfire that broke out Thursday afternoon threatened homes in Sylmar, officials said.

More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze.

The fire was reported around 2:00 p.m. in the 15200 block of West Lakeside Street, firefighters said.

As of 3:15 p.m., it was burning about seven acres, Los Angeles Fire Department officials said.

KABC-TV Channel 7 video showed the fire burning a few meters from a house. Helicopters drop drops on the fire.
