Burkina Faso Soldiers Take Control of State TV, Declare Countercoup
OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso — More than a dozen members of Burkina Faso’s army took control of state television late Friday, declaring that the country’s coup leader-turned-presidential Lt. Col. Paul Henri Sandaogo Damibahad been overthrown.
The announcer introduced Capt. Ibrahim Traore as the new mastermind of the unpredictable West African country fighting a growing Islamic insurgency.
