Cabrera gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead with an RBI brace in the third half. It was the 602nd double of his career, taking him past Barry Bonds for a sole 17th place in major league history and drawing a standing ovation from the Comerica Park crowd.

His career 504 hit in the sixth inning made it 2-0. Homer put him in a relationship with Eddie Murray at 27th on the career list and gave him 1,123 base shots, breaking ties with Manny Ramirez to come 17th.

Two hitters later, Jonathan Schoop hit a single and scored Willi Castro’s double before Spencer Torkelson made it 4-0 with an RBI single.

Jordan Lyles (2-3) conceded the defeat, dropping four runs with six hits and three walks in 5 innings of 2/3.

Baltimore came in second in second and third with an elimination in the first, but Anthony Santander showed up and Tyler Nevin returned to the mound.

Rodriguez left after beating Robinson Chirinos and Chris owns by two passes in the seventh inning. Andrew Chafin allowed Cedric Mullins to hit a domestic single, loading the base, but again defeated Jorge Mateo.

Trey Mancini and Santander scored on Jacob Barnes’ field in the first two throws of the round of 16, making it 4-2. Nevin walked away, taking Alex Lange out of the barn.

A mistake by third fighter Jeimer Candelario extended the round, and Ows walked to load the base with two innings. Mullins, though, appeared to keep the Tigers ahead.

The Tigers approached Gregory Soto beat Mateo and Mancini to start the ninth season. After Santander attacked, Nevin walked to load the base. Will Vest replaced Soto and beat Ramon Urias and Rylan Bannon to the first save of his career.

ROOM OF TRAINER

Tigers RHP Casey Mize (elbow) began rehab for Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, allowing four runs and three hits while retiring just two hits. … INF Victor Reyes (quad) won 2 to 3 walking in Mud Hens and 5 to 9 with homer, 3 walks and 4 runs in 3 games.

NEW HATCHED

Orioles RHP Denyi Reyes made his major league debut in the seventh inning, and was in for an unusual game. With two goals, Javy Baez fired a long shot from the left by-line that referee Quinn Wolcott called home. Baez, believing the ball was fouled, did not run until he asked Wolcott what to do.

After a deliberation, the umpires changed the call to a foul and a review of the game quickly confirmed the decision. Reyes beat Baez on the next court and finished with two perfect innings.
