Well, that’s brutal.
A total of 17 broadcast series have been paused in the past 48 hours as broadcast networks begin cleaning their homes ahead of next week’s fall presentations. (aka “Upfronts”).
The highest body count in The CW is up for sale, having surpassed seven series this week, including HeritageOLDVictims, 4400, Naomi, Roswell, New Mexico, In the Dark and age.
CBS has shut down nearly half a dozen shows, including Magnum PI, B Positive and Good Sam, while NBC pulled the plug on three (including comedy Mr. Mayor and Kenan).
Fox, meanwhile, parted ways with two series, Our kind of people and Pivoting.
Miraculously, ABC — the company that has had some of the biggest cancellations in recent years — brought back all five of its remaining scripted bubble shows.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen TV cancellations like today,” lamented writer and producer Phillip Iscove (Sleepy Hollow, Station 19) above Twitter. “Absolutely brutal. I sympathize with all the writers, cast and crew out there. ”
