Carr Mill Dam: Body found in hunt for teen girl who ‘who got into distress’ while swimming with pals

A body has been found in a search for a teenage girl who was “distressed” while swimming with friends in Merseyside.

At 12.30pm today, emergency services were called to Carr Mill Dam in St Helens where police officers said they were concerned for the safety of a teenage girl.

The teenage girl’s body was found after a large-scale search operation at the dam.

Witnesses reported that a cordon had been set up and helicopters were circling overhead where two underwater search units searched the crime scene.

Merseyside Police Chief Inspector for St Helens Paul Holden confirmed the body of a teenage girl has now been found.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue said earlier today: “We can confirm that the emergency services are responding to safety concerns in St Helens today Thursday 1 June.”

“Around 12.30pm we received a report of safety concerns for a young girl at Carr Mill Dam on Garswood Old Road.
